Services for English Language Learners:
Linwood offers an
intensive English language program called Language Academy for
beginning English speakers in grades 1, 2 and 3. Language Academy
teachers work closely in collaboration with mainstream teachers in
order to support students in becoming confident and successful

participants in the classroom.
ELL students at higher levels
of language development receive service from a licensed ESL teacher.
ELL time is spent in academic language development activities, and in
small guided reading groups which focus specifically on the needs of
these students. Students may also receive  | | Mr. Xiong (right) ELL EA, assists families in the office. |
additional support from our
Family Literacy Specialist.
Linwood has a full time bilingual
home / school liaison who supports Hmong students in their math classes
and at other times during the day. He is also available to work with
families for various school communication and evening literacy events.
