| Kindergarten | | In kindergarten, we follow the balanced literacy model. This includes
phonemic awareness and phonics instruction; guided, shared and
independent reading; and modeled, interactive, and independent writing.
 | | The curiosity of a kindergartner! |
Our goal is to have all our students become confident readers and
writers using Rigby's collection of books that meet the reader at their
instructional level.
We have aligned ourselves with the rest of
the school by adopting Everyday Math. It's a hands-on program that
focuses on number sense, patterns, shapes, measurement, estimation, and
problem solving.
Our themes in kindergarten include Me and My
Community, Seasons, The Five Senses, Life Cycles of Our Animal Friends,
The Sky Above Us, and Things That Grow.

Planting Apple Trees! Each kindergarten class was given the gift of an apple tree by the Linwood PTA. The whole school and neighborhood will benefit from the beauty of these trees, and we are very happy to have them. Parent, Al Sedaca helped with the project. Please look at the pictures of the kindergarten students planting these terrific trees.
